A single window cleaner can now reach places once inaccessible by ladder and still keep his feet firmly on the ground. It is even possible to heat the water to almost boiling point making it much easier to remove baked on dirt.

This does not mean that traditional methods have been completely abandoned. They are still used when necessary and safety regulations allow.
